Dave Pathway
Task 1 and 2
Hi everyone,
Task 1
Task 1
This is your task – use an online tool to create a resource/ plan /ideas
list/ provocation bullet list to help a colleague(s) or service user(s) to move
forward in their practice and understanding of the Internet, connected
services, and how might use them positively and safely.
Task 2: Content Creation/ Creating a Newspaper
Sign up for either www.paper.li or www.storify.com or www.scoop.it and create a 'page' or 'newspaper' of content on a topic of interest.
Then create a blog entry with a link to what you have created.

Back to normal after jet lag
Here's a mind map of my idea, I will be delivering workshops around Wales as part of DW's Digital Lives project and I will create a blog as a resource. I am currently looking into the accessibility of blogger and wordpress, and after a meeting with our web developer tomorrow, I should be more clear on which platform to use. I'm also in touch with Disability Accessibility Centre in Neath who have suggested that I start work on the blog and send it to them to assess.
The blog will include direct links to the DW website as well as a accessibility resource that I'm working on with partner. After each workshop, attendees will be able to visit the blog to refresh their memory. I will include a tutorial section, and I will create these tutorials by using Screenr. There will also be a tab about local services and where to find information and help. Also, I'll have a stay safe online tab which will include tips re social media, email, shopping etc

Better late than never!!!
My idea for my project is still going to be based around Internet Safety, although I am going to concentrate on expanding my Blog in the process. I've created a mindmap from bubbl.us to show some of my ideas.
My internet Safety project will look at a screencast around Facebook Safety sessions, which I will also embed into my blog. I'll hopefully also look at this issue during my next consultation session at our summer residential trip. By developing my blog, I will also try and expand the participation of our young people, who I hope will post there and carry on the good work!

Project Ideas
Although this training has been looking at safegurding etc I would like to expand this and develop this to a Blog that would eventually be taken over by an adult on the spectrum to create a more sence of ownership etc.
The Blog will hopefully be a central point for adults to be able to look for specific advice around topics that they may be having difficulty around ie, Social Media, Dating sites, How to act in certain situations or just how the neuo typical mind works.(a tall order!!!!).. Bacically day to day difficulties people with an ASD encounter.
I hope it to be interactive with many differnt rescource formats catering for a wide range of abilities giving people practicle advise on helping promote inderviduals independence and create a sence of an arena to add experiences that may help others in the future.
I have including a brief Mind map from bubblus but neet to refine what I want but also what would be practicle and logistally possible.
PS. Please excuse the spelling the spell check on Blogger is playing up.

Workshop Idea
I've looked at both the mind mapping tools and prefer this one as I think that it is clearer for this project.
I feel that teaching the ladies that I work with to blog is achievable as you can alter the level of detail and skill required to get a desired result so it is flexible for people of differing abilities. It is a visual way of communicating and can incorporate a lot of fun and enjoyment in sharing their activities with people who care to know about their lives, also enabling people who are not completely independent to socialise and get involved easier with more flexible hours. Not restricted to college or when their mother etc is free.
I feel that there is a lack of communication between P.A's now with the Direct Payments scheme as you are a lone worker and feel that there needs to be a base or center for them to communicate if needs be, ideally from local services but even for each service user.
I know that Powys People First have made a start at a blog for the group but it hasn't taken off and I'd like to be able to take this forwards and show the group in a workshop the possibilities and benefits of having such a dynamic line of communication open to them all.

Multimedia Project Idea
Here is a mind map I made on www.bubbl.us explaining what I will be doing for my multimedia project. I have created a blog that I will use to help deliver a
basic computer course for complete beginners.
As they will be beginners at first I will put them onto the blog as
games will be provided on there to help them use a mouse and also a
keyboard. Then week 2 I will teach them
how they can access this when we cover the internet. This can be used to refer to after the
lessons so they can practice and look on there for advice on safety and help
with computer jargon etc.

Useful Presentation
I think this may be useful as a basic template that may be enough for some service users. Although I would need to significantly adapt it to make it accessible for some of the people we support.
My Project Idea- The next steps
This is my mindmap using Bubbl.us. It has some quirks but once i got used to it, I found it useful to set out orgiinal ideas then return a couple of times to tweak it. It is easy to get carried away with these making them virtually unintelligible, but hopefully I have managed to avoid that.
I will be focusing on a survey to establish what the need is, but as you can see there are many other aspects to getting this project up and running.

Sorry a little bit late but the sun has been Shining. Hope you enjoy, the most technical part of this was making the play dough, but a good way to spent a bank holiday Monday!!!!!

Day 3 Workshop Ideas
First of all
Survey people googledocs on:
their current( if necessary supported) internet use ( to include gaming & chat).
concerns regarding going online
perceived barriers to connecting with the world wide web
awareness of how to keep safe online
what they see as the advantages to having an online presence
People
Training would in all likelihood be to staff who support people directly.
There would also be a need to inform managers and senior managers as to what is being offered.
There is perhaps a need to involve care managers/ family at some point.
This would involve liaising with ICT department.
This would probably involve updating safeguarding policies (perhaps writing a new Keeping Safe Online policy)
Subjects
what the internet is, advantages to being online, , cyberbullying, oversharing, scams, inappropriate/ illegal links, viruses; keeping safe resources, for example screenr, of 'how tos', mythbusting, Creative Commons Licences.
Resources:
hands on using pcs, produce materials that can be accessed by some of the people we support i.e. pictures and video rather than too much text, keeping safe resources, Longer term resource to include service user led presentations- a celebration of achievements and what can be done

Jo's project Idea
Tried to use Powtoon!!! Having difficulty, but I will get my head around it all!
Digital Security Project
Target Audience: Initially "Service User's". Workshops would be person centred and aimed at individuals of similar ability so the correct level of support and time would be provided and the workshop tools would be specific to each group.
Moving on to Support Staff, Carers, Family members, and so on....
How long? How ever long it takes!!! But I would look at 1/2 day workshops. This is due to transport, support hours in Day Services etc... Concentration levels, ability....
Themes: Participation workshops. Active sessions, role-play, worksheets, discussion, experiences, practical use of the internet, sites, mobile phones, Q & A, slideshows, use of things I have learned so far on this course, use of internet info, use of useful links, connection to blog specific to the session, info pack to go home with geared to the person (in symbols, picture format, text etc...)
Kit: PC's/lap tops, phones, whiteboard, note pads, cameras, microphone, projector.
Outcomes: Digital Safety Awareness!!! A better understanding.
How:
Determine the need and interest - ask, posters, flyers, contact Care Managers.
Determine levels of need to person centre the workshops by asking and questionnaire.
Invite people to attend suitable workshop.
Advertise event!!! Email, posters, flyers.
Hold event.
Ask for feedback and collate information.
Make any changes required, alter the course if necessary and change to suit others.
If successful, hold the workshop again!!! Ask Service User's if they would like to facilitate a workshop for staff and peers?

Internet Safety Ideas
So here's my plan!
I work with teenagers, so getting them to attend anything is sometimes (OK, all the time!!) a challenge!! So a carrot will probably be needed!
I organise consultation events throughout the year and will be running a residential trip in August. Here, we do some fun activities during the day time (the carrot!), then keep the evenings free to concentrate on work!
I'd like to then run a session on internet safety. By this time, I'll hopefully have my blog up and running and will have used resources such as Powtoons and Animoto etc to help highlight the issue with my group.
At the session I'll hope to run, I'll keep it short and sweet (maximum half an hour) and will use a screencast to show how settings etc can be changed.
We'll look at Facebook security settings and I'd also like to address the issues raised by the Orange digital dirt YouTube video, so will show some of these videos as well.
Outcomes I'd like to see are the young people all becoming more safety aware when using the internet. Initially changing their Facebook settings would be a start!
Here's my first try at a Powtoon....!

What I will be doing...
I will be delivering a session on internet safety when shopping online.
It will be aimed at the four main target groups that my project will be aiming to help get online: people with a disability, unemployed, 50+ and people living in social housing.
I will direct them to a blog that I will create with different areas of online shopping safety.
Creating a safe password (will include a screen cast and also an embedded video/link of a BBC Web Wise game that tests the strength of your password), how to find out if a webpage is reliable, safe ways to pay online, support sites and also hints and tips.
I will need laptops, speakers, projector and access to the internet.
I want to be able to create a place where people can visit for help and advice on different online shopping internet issues.

Tina's workshop ideas
I will be delivering a session on Social Media, and its benefits for users. I will need to cover the safety issues therefore will use Powtoon which will cover the topic 'are we sharing too much'. The whole session will last around 30mins-45 mins
Themes: Social medias security settings, Apps - Check ins, Dating sites, online shopping
Kit: Laptop, Projector, Speakers
Outcomes: This session will ensure that disabled people, who are not digitally included or use social media because they fear that their details aren't secure, will feel more comfortable by knowing the 'rights and wrongs'

Useful tools
I think I could use these tools within my professional life: Flickr, Powtoon, edmodo
Useful Tool(s)!!!
So, I just couldn't decide and surely it's a good thing if I'm taking away more than 1 useful tool??!
Firstly, I can see the real benefit of using screenr to promote internet safety to our young people. As long as no-one's watching me in the office, I can now make tutorials on how to update Facebook privacy settings etc and post them straight to Facebook. Think the rest of my team may like this too! I'm often asked to help out with techy bits in the office, so I can see myself using this more than once!!
Then we've got animoto. I organise residential trips and consultation events for our care leavers and looked after children. It will be great to be able to put together little movies to show these events and these would then be uploaded onto our Powys Youth Website. Hopefully this will encourage more participation??!!!!

Bubble.us
This is a really easy and clear site to use, especially for younger people or people with learning disabilities as it is very tactile and has simple graphics. It can be used for a number of projects, to plan step by step on how to get to the desired results.

Tina's useful tool
I will certainly use Screenr for the digital lives blog, I can use it to create short tutorials on various things such as how to use AT, security setting, signing up to social network sites...
I also look forward to creating videos via Animoto. This is an ideal tool to create professional videos but can also show the fun side to Disability Wales Staff. We take photos from every event we hold but they are just stored on the Gdrive, this would be a great way to share.

Survey Monkey!!!!
As requested.... One thought when carrying out events or training events why not use survey monkey as a feed back report or online consultations.
Useful Tools
The tool I see myself using in my project is a screen recording tool such as Screenr. This will be useful to people in my basic ICT workshops and also after as a reminder of how to perform a certain task e.g. how to log onto twitter.
Useful Tool from Day 2
Screenr Would be an improvement on screen-dump word docs I currently use to show people(mainly staff) how to utilise a particular technology.
As part of a welsh government project I have been asked to develop and delivering online training material and I can see this tool being a great resource
